Had my honeymoon in Carmel almost 40 years ago and going to return this Fall to celebrate anniversary. Wonderful place
This is another one of my grandfather’s photos. It’s from a trip my grandparents and great aunt and uncle took in 1957.
Thanks! Click on D.L. Campbell Photos for more of Grandpa’s photographs.
It’s a refreshingly unique shot of a much photographed scene, my neighborhood; your granddad shot it from the left which is rare, I wonder if the access has changed in the last sixty years; the fence doesn’t look familiar, nor the lone cypress pine as twisted by the fierce elements. Very nice indeed. Did you inherit your love of black and white, stark outlines, solitude? What a lovely legacy in any and all events.
His photos are mostly travel shots, but in many cases with a very beautiful perspective. Here’s a link to this shot as it was scanned from a color slide:
I did a little post-processing to go with black and white and clean it up a bit.
